Josh Shanahan.

Josh started running at 14 years of age. He noticed that he had always been a good runner, consistently finding himself in the top 5 at school cross country. One year, Josh made it to the Sunshine Coast Regional carnival and wanted to train so he could get the best result possible. This sparked his passion and his love for running.

A major catalyst for his success is consistency. Whether it’s hot outside, lightning or even hailing, Josh will train because he knows that more work he puts in, better results follow. Over the years, Josh has become a very decorated athlete and says that is one of the reasons he remains so discipline. “There is no better feeling than having a gold medal around my neck.”

5 years from now, Josh can see himself running in the United States at College. He recently committed to Texas A&M Commerce (2024). After college, Josh would love to be a professional athlete.

“My favourite session is definitely anything where the last rep is as fast as possible because I always end up running faster than I thought I could have.” This philosophy has been adopted by Josh and the results show. He is always putting in the maximum effort and as mentioned, the results continue to follow.

Josh has described his biggest obstacle has been trying to juggle running with his basketball. He expressed that there was never time to do both during High School. Graduating high school definitely helped him with the free time he has now prior to commencing his study in August, 2024.

“Pick a sport that you love to do and be as consistent as possible. Consistency is key to getting better over the long term” - Josh Shanahan, 2024.
